The Center for American Law informs the public that it has submitted a petition to all relevant government authorities, in accordance with Article 56 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, requesting the removal of customs duties on books, medicines, and medical devices imported from the United States.
We believe that the removal of these customs duties is in the public interest for two reasons: first, there is no public interest that would be protected by these customs duties, and second, it is in Serbia’s interest to both enhance competitiveness and provide its citizens with better conditions for acquiring knowledge and safeguarding their health.
In other words, the Center believes that customs duties on books, medicines, and medical devices only negatively affect citizens, specifically their education and health, while also potentially placing innovative American companies and renowned authors at a disadvantage compared to companies or authors from the EU and other countries, whose products currently receive more favorable customs treatment.
All further activities aimed at the success of the petition will be carried out by the Center for American Law in accordance with the provisions of the Lobbying Law and other applicable regulations.
