Dr Vanja Bajović
Department for Criminal Law
Vanja Bajović is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade. She teaches Criminal Procedure, International Criminal Law, Juvenile Justice, Corruption, and International Cooperation in Combating Crime. Her extensive academic background includes a PhD in Criminal Procedure, awarded with distinction, from the University of Belgrade, Master degree in Governance and Politics of European Integration from the University of Bologna, and Masters of Law Degree from the University of Belgrade.
Dr. Bajović is a renowned author and researcher in the fields of criminal procedure, digital evidence, cross-border surveillance and human rights, corruption, and animal welfare law. She has written several influential works, including the books Plea Bargaining Agreement – A Comparative View, Manual for Misdemeanor Law, Criminal Law in Serbia (Kluwer Law International), as well as numerous articles in legal journals and edited volumes.
A Fulbright Fellow in 2009 (JFDP Program), she conducted research at Brooklyn Law School, New York, focusing on comparative criminal law and human rights. She has also lectured internationally, including at Jindal Global University in India. Dr. Bajović actively contributes to professional and academic communities as a board member of the Association for International Criminal Law, a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Society of Criminology, and an editorial board member of several legal journals. Recognized for her exceptional efforts in animal welfare, she received the World Animal Day Award in 2022.
She has presented her work at numerous high-profile conferences, including the United Nations Crime Commission and the International Society for Criminology Conference. Her research involvement extends to projects funded by USAID and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in Serbia.
Dr. Bajović is fluent in English, with a working knowledge of Italian and Spanish. She is based in Belgrade, Serbia.
